On April 30th, the futsal circle APU Delfino became the Oita prefecture representative to compete in the Kyushu-wide futsal competition in July. Kanata Kusushima's hat-trick assured this victory against Nihon Bunli University(NBU) (Final score 6:3).
Up or go home
As the representative of Oita prefecture, APU Delfino will compete in the Kyushu tournament. There will be nine teams representing nine different prefectures in Kyushu. They will compete against each other in July, presumably in Saga for two consecutive days, and the winning two teams will become the representative of Kyushu.
After becoming the Kyushu representative. Two teams from each main island will compete in the national round, and the winning team will become the national champion.
The pressure on the team
APU has won 3rd place in the national round in both 2013 and 2014. The team was led by Soshi Ginshima, who became a professional futsal player for Agremina Hamamatsu(アグレミーナ浜松). In 2018, the team won the Kyushu around and went to the national round.
APU Delfino's goal this year is to do better than past successes. With the arrival of the coach, the team morale is at its peak, and members are excited to compete.
Looking for international talents
APU Delfino is currently in search of international talents. Most of the members in the circle are Japanese, and they wish to have more international members because they know that there are lots of great international talents in APU that can work together for high-level competition. As of May, the team consists of 25 members; 3 managers, one coach, 20 Japanese, and one international player. They are looking for international students interested in futsal, which is not limited only to people who experienced futsal before.
"Lots of people in the group were interested but didn't know how to play, "says Jotaro, one of the team members. "If you want to play futsal and have fun, you should consider joining our team, "he added.
